You can use Plutext's Word to PDF Converter in your application to programmatically convert or export Microsoft Word doc/docx files to PDF.

It installs as an operating system service on Solaris.

Installation and Getting Started


# Download/install - alter the URL as appropriate
sudo pkgadd -d http://www.plutext.com/dn/downloads/1448359810066/PlutextDocumentServices-2.0-10-sparc_64.pkg?code=1448359810066

#or you can download manually and use pkgadd

# check service. should say: STATE: disabled
sudo  svcs  PlutextDocumentServices

# (optional) configure service. Default is 127.0.0.1:9016 which means the service is only available locally.
# (optional) use configuration below to make the service available publicly
sudo svccfg -s PlutextDocumentServices setprop PlutextDocumentServices/args = "0.0.0.0:9016"
sudo svcadm refresh  PlutextDocumentServices

# enable service 
sudo  svcadm enable  PlutextDocumentServices

# logging
tail -f /opt/PlutextDocumentServices/plutextd.log

After installation, you should see a daemon 'plutextd' running.

Port configuration - Solaris

127.0.0.1 only accepts connections from localhost; 0.0.0.0 accepts connections from anywhere (assuming your firewall allows it)


    # (optional) configure service. Default is 127.0.0.1:9016 which means the service is only available locally.
    # (optional) use configuration below to make the service available publicly
    sudo svccfg -s PlutextDocumentServices setprop PlutextDocumentServices/args = "0.0.0.0:9016"
    sudo svcadm refresh  PlutextDocumentServices
